:: Spirits of Hari Raya ::

Before 1999, Those days before Hari Raya was something I look forward to. Everyone was there and the house was filled with people and the smell of kuih kuih raya made by arwah nenek. Baba was still staying with us, the house was in proper shape for a proper hari raya. Om will stay around and menganyam ketupats, he will taught me times and times again how to do it but I still cant. But insyallah one day ill learn how to do it. It was somehow special and could smell the hari raya vibes around. You might think im gay to say such things but I can always tell special occasions through familiar smells.

Sadly after 1999, the departure of nenek and my parents filed a divorce, everythings change. It was quite shocking to feel different on such occasion. The spirits of Hari Raya werent around to brighten up the house. Hari raya then felt like other normal days the differences was only that the house would be clean and theres plenty of food that could last for a week. As years past, it became a drag. I dont know if its just me all grown up, or isit us? (my family). But im happy for kakak cos for this year, theres a new family member that brings joy for this special occasion.

Maybe I can just tell myself this somehow to cheer me up, if i happen to start a family. I would make every hari raya a special and memorable one. Like take a family potrait in baju kurung every year and frame it on the wall and fill up the house with relatives on hari raya. Macam meriah kan gitu?

So yeah, This will be a pre-hari raya blog wish to everyone. selamat hari raya ya''ll. Or mcm the trend now cakap Happy Eid Mubarak. orang cakap gitu suspect kuat suka cakap buka as "iftar" ok. sekian takaballahuminawaminkum.
